SCARBOROUGH, NORTH YORKSHIRE
TIBETAN BUDDHIST MEDITATION CENTRE FOR WORLD PEACE AND HEALTH
ABOUT THE CENTRE
We are a Buddhist community in the heart of Scarborough, under the direction of Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery and Tibetan Buddhist Centre in Scotland. We are under the direct guidance of the Venerable Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche, Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche's brother - the co-founder of Kagyu Samye Ling in Scotland.
Our aims are:

• To make the teachings of Buddhism accessible to all.
• To foster the growth of wisdom and compassion.
• To benefit the wider community.
• To promote interfaith dialogue and understanding.

The function of the centre is to provide Buddhist philosophy and meditation and compassion-based mindfulness classes and retreats for both Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike, as well as health and wellbeing services with community outreach.

Kagyu Samye Dzong Scarborough Tibetan Buddhist Centre has had a presence in Scarborough since April 2009. In June 2013 Scarborough Borough Council voted to transfer the beautiful, historic building Londesborough Lodge to our charity, Rokpa Trust, as a Community Asset Transfer. We are now focused on the regeneration of this site, restoring it to its original splendour and cultural significance, and opening it as a centre for the health and wellbeing of the community.

The centre provides community outreach work, with Buddhist meditation and mindfulness classes at the local hospice, schools and university, as well as at several other health social service organisations, businesses and charities.
